Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Thursday, June 3, 2010 Bonnie Shipley Lewis, 98, formerly of Flagstaff, died Monday, May 31, 2010, with her family by her side, in Milford (Clermont County), Ohio. Mrs. Lewis was born July 20, 1911, to Robert and Viola (Warren) Shipley, in Kentucky but moved with her family at a young age to Butler County, Ohio. She graduated from Reily High School in Ohio, attended Hamilton Business College and went to work for Opekasit Dairy in Hamilton, Ohio, as a bookkeeper. She worked in the dairy/ice cream business for 42 years, ending her career with The Borden Company, which bought Opekasit. In 1948, she married James R. Lewis, also of Hamilton, in Corning, N.Y. He died in 1966 at the age of 46. They lived most of their married lives in Hamilton and Fairfield, Ohio. Mrs. Lewis later retired to Tucson and lived there for 28 years. In 2003, she moved to Flagstaff to be near her nieces. She recently relocated to Ohio to be near her only surviving niece and her family. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her niece (Carol) Anne Shipley and husband, Doug Jilg, and their children, for whom she was a grandmother; and many friends in Tucson, Flagstaff and Ohio. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father and mother; sisters Reba and Ferne; brother James Thomas (Jay); and a niece. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., at Greenwood Cemetery, 1602 Greenwood Ave., in Hamilton, with Chaplain Barbara Wulsin of Crossroads Hospice officiating.
