WEISLING, Gilbert Louis


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/06/2005 Gilbert L. Weisling, 81, died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Carriage House in Snowflake. He grew up in Wickenburg and Octave, Arizona. Gilbert joined the Army Air corps & served as a pilot in the Phillipines during World War II. After the war he attended and graduated from Arizona State University where he met his wife Nina. They moved to Morenci where they raised their family while he worked at the Morenci Schools for over 20 years as a teacher, principal, and Assistant Superintendent until he retired. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a great father and grandfather. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nina Weisling of Snowflake; son, Chris Weisling of Phoenix, daughter, Jan Weisling (James Vanderbeek) of Silver City, NM, grandsons, George (Bobbie) Warren, II of Taylor, Steve Vanderbeek of Silver City, NM; granddaughters, Liesel Weisling of Tempe, Susie Vanderbeek of Silver City, NM, Emily Weisling of Phoenix, great granddaughter, Dusty Warren of Taylor; sister, Dorothy Love of Oak Harbor, WA; nephew, George Love of Oak Harbor, WA; aunt, Babe Rubash of Wickenburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and brother. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
