MAY, Horst Franz Herbert Ferdinand


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/13/2005 Horst Franz Herbert Ferdinand May Horst May, 70, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. He was born Nov. 1934 in Genthin, Germany. He attended high school in Dussela Dory. He served his apprentaship in furniture making in Hamburg. Horst migrated to Canada in 1956 and later to the United States in 1961. He was blessed with a daughter in 1969. Horst remarried in 1981 and gained two sons and lot of in-laws. All his life Horst worked with wood, it was his one passion. Some of the talent went into Spellman Hardwood Homes, Arizona Bank, Craftsmen in Woods, he built a Butterfield Stage Coach, Point in Thyne (1st and Thunderbird) Anthem Model Homes and many more homes in the Valley. In 1999 Horst retired and moved from Phoenix to the White Mountains. He loved the four seasons, being outdoors, fishing, boating, traveling to other countries, and going up the hill. Horst was a very special person who was always willing to help a friend or someone in need. He was a kind and caring man, who loved animals, enjoyed conversation. He will be missed. Horst is survived by his wife, Wanda E. May of White Mountain Lake; his daughter, Julie Ann May of Phoenix; two step-sons, Fredrick Wayne Nelson, Ferdy John Mendoza both of Phoenix; three grandchildren all of Phoenix; many very close friends and family in the Valley and in Germany Aunt Meta Schiipmann and her son, Klaus and family, Iris, Isabelle, and Mickial of Munchen Germany; Aunt Rosel Mielke and her son Jorgan Mielke of Hamburg Germany. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two aunts. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Silver Creek Golf Course.
