The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/20/2005 Dixie Lee Stabenow A much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to Heaven Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Dixie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Eugene Stabenow and one son Michael Stabenow. Dixie was born Sept. 28, 1930 in Stockton, Ill., the daughter of Marian and Howard H. Townsend. Dixie and Eugene moved to Phoenix in 1968 from a small town in Illinois called Hometown and moved up to Show Low in 1988 to live "the good life." Dixie was very active in church, attending Sunday school, Sunday services, Wednesday night prayer meetings and Ladies Bible Study. Dixie loved to be surrounded by her family, enjoyed games and making things for her family and friends, especially being a grandmother. Dixie will be greatly missed by her children: son Eugene P. Stabenow (Angie); daughter Beau Bell Taylor (Clovis); son Joseph H. Stabenow (Tina); and son Matthew S. Stabenow (Linda); her two brothers David Fultz and Howard Townsend (Joy); and one sister Sandra Pemberton (Vic) and her 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dixie and her smile has touched the lives of so many. A celebration of Dixie's life and love of the Lord will be held Friday, May 20 at the First Baptist Church of Show Low at 6 p.m.
