MCMURPHY, Barbara Maye

Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Barbara Maye McMurphy (October 3, 1926 - June 2, 2010) Barbara Maye McMurphy, of Flagstaff passed away June 2, 2010 in Goodyear, Arizona. She was born in Bay City, Michigan to Kurt and Lois Hayley Kriewall. She was a Registered Nurse, in Bay City she worked at Hurley Hospital and Samaritan Hospital. In 1972 the family moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked for Dr. Gruno's office. In the late 70's they moved to Prescott. Barbara went to work at the VA Hospital where she worked till her retirement. She has lived in Flagstaff for the past 12 years. In February 2009 she moved into the Loyalton Assisted living. Barbara was always active in church in the communities she lived; Bethel Lutheran in Bay City, Trinity Lutheran in Prescott Valley and Peace Lutheran here in Flagstaff. She enjoyed her involvement in the Ladies Aid groups at church. Barbara found enjoyment in cooking, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Barbara is survived by her children Colleen Keegan (Francis) of Flagstaff, Diane Brysselbout (Gregory) of Buckeye, AZ and Stephen McMurphy of Austria; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by husband John McMurphy in September 2009; her 1st husband Julius DeMaria; son Dennis DeMaria; and brother Don Kriewall. A visitation will be Friday 7-8pm at the Norvel Owens Mortuary. Services will be Saturday 10am at Peace Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Citizens Cemetery
