WHETSTINE, Robert Karl


Robert Karl Whetstine, 72, embarked on a new journey on December 11, 2002. He was born July 31st, 1930 in Iowa City, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served in the Korean Conflict during the 13 years he spent in the Navy as a Seabee and a Ship's Cook. After leaving the Navy, he enjoyed success as an automobile mechanic for 32 years, which included 21 years operating his own auto shop, Arizona Auto Transmission. He is the son of Albert Lee and Leota Mary Whetstine, with whom he has been reunited. He was also preceded on his journey by his brother, Wesley Lee Whetstine, his son, Robert Karl Whetstine Jr., and his grandson, Keith Thomas Whetstine. He will continue to be loved, remembered, and missed by his wife Celia, his brother Thomas, his daughters, Billie, Jerry, Sara, Betty, Gail, and April, his sons, Keith, Karl and Robert, his grandchildren, Daniel, Avery, Jon, Angie, Jenny, Johnny, Mariah and Alan, and by his many friends. Visitation with Service following was at Camelback Sunset Chapel located at 301 W Camelback Road, and concluded at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 North Cave Creek Road.
