Margery Vaughn Esler, 81, passed away Nov. 20 in Scottsdale. Margery was born to Flora Nall and Joseph Turner Vaughn on March 5, 1921, in Detroit Michigan. She met her husband, Robert James Esler Jr. in high school, attended Wayne State University, then married as World War II approached. She moved with Robert as he went through pilot's training for the Army Air Corp, and they had their first son, Robert III while he was overseas. Other children include Peggy, who passed away in 1949, Mary Ann and Michael. Margery and Robert raised their family in Shorewood, Wi., then moved to Scottsdale in 1972. They also spent 8 years in California, before moving back to Scottsdale to be with their grandchildren. Margery reveled in having five beautiful granddaughters - Emily and Molly Nock, whom she helped raise; Amy Esler; and Isabella and Ava Esler. She is also survived by sons, Robert Esler of Sheboygan, Wi. and wife Janet; Michael Esler of Columbus, Ohio ,and wife Marie, and daughter Mary Ann Nock, of Phoenix., and husband Jack. Margery loved her children implicitly, and cherished all children, dogs and California. She was an avid reader and worked as a school librarian in Wisconsin, Arizona and California. She passed on her love of literature, music and theater, and leaves a legacy of the importance of speaking up for yourself and standing up for others. She will be intensely missed.
