KOONTZ,
Charles (Mark)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/24/2005
Charles "Mark" Koontz, 44, went to be with our Lord May 19, 2005 peacefully at his home.
He was born Nov. 13, 1960 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Oliver James and NinaFae Koontz. He battled back to live for almost 10 years after a near fatal car accident in 1995. It was a miracle Mark survived the accident and one year later they had a second miracle when Dakota Blue Koontz was born.
The bond between father and son was a gift from God. The love they shared helped Mark during his recuperation and recovery. His wife Sandi exemplified loyalty and companionship during their 14 year marriage as she loved and nurtured Mark through all of the struggles. Mark's stepdaughter was more than just a daughter as she helped keep the family together by demonstrating unparalleled compassion and understanding.
Prior to 1995, Mark fulfilled his dream of becoming a paramedic, and was the Ambulance Director for Samaritan Health Services for 3-1/2 years. During his life, Mark loved hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, and just being outdoors and driving in the mountains. He was a skilled carpenter and completed two Arizona rooms, one bedroom and other various projects.
Mark was a loving husband, father, and "papa". He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sandi Koontz; son, Dakota Blu Koontz; stepchildren, Christian (Heather), Michael (Toi), and Melissa Pacheco; grandchildren, Taylor, Crystal, Connor, Tori Megan, Haylee, Cassandra, Justin, Catherine "Nicci", Jessi, Cameron "Bobcat", Jasmine, and Lia Marie; extended family Margee Holly, Kim Shepard, Steve, Kelly, Rusty, and Cory Massey; beloved father and mother-in-law Earl and Betty Collins; his brothers, Oliver James "Jamie" Koontz, Jr. and Scott Koontz; sisters, Kristie Manning, Ninabill Brooks, & Kathy Baker.
Services were held Monday, May 23 at the Church of Christ 335 W. Erie in Holbrook. A separate service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the Church of Christ 1050 US Highway 180 in Springerville.
Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
