The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/27/2005 Lena Hatch, 97, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Carriage House in Snowflake. She was born in Woodruff. When she was a child her family moved to Clay Springs. Lena attended school in Clay Springs until her family moved to Taylor when she was in her teens. She finished school in Taylor. Following school Lena worked at The Standard Sawmill where she met Vern Hatch. They were married in 1926 and made their home in Taylor. Lena was known for her quilting, crocheting and her homemade bread. Lena is survived by her sons, Boyd T. Hatch of Taylor, Doyle R. Hatch of Fallon, NV, Kenneth B. Hatch of Taylor, Paul D. Hatch of Joseph City; daughters, Verna Lee Randall of Gilbert, Janice Winkler of Chandler, Jacquelyn Vaughn of Taylor, Claudette Brimhall of Mesa; brother, Phillip Pearce of San Juan Bautista, CA; 38 grandchildren, 116 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern in 1992, children, Clarence Van in 1928 and Louella in 1939. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Brimhall and nine great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Taylor Love Lake Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one-hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be in the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.
