HOUGHTELING, Alma Jean


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/27/2005 Alma Jean Houghteling, 72, died May 22, 2005 in Show Low. The last of eleven children, Alma was born in Parma, Missouri where she grew up and graduated from Parma High School. She met and married Eunice Poe and had two children, Terry and Eunetta. Alma worked for nearly thirty years at K-Mart in many different positions. She later met and married Dwain Houghteling and they remained together for nearly fifteen years. In her free time Alma loved being outside. She was quite the gardener and could grow anything. Alma also helped with farming the sixty-acre parcel in Missouri. She was a strong willed person who often spoke her mind. She will be dearly missed. Alma is survived by her daughter, Eunetta (Donald) Shurter of Taylor; five grandchildren, Tammy, Teri, Donny Jr., Danny and Duane; and five great-grandchildren, Shantel, Eric Allen, Levi, Brian and Nicholas. Other extended family members are her step-children, Reno (Gordie) Shores of Michigan, Terry (Jackie) Houghteling of Florida, Lona (Steve) Grabowski and Eddy (Linda) both of Michigan; and 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son Terry and her husband Eunice. Services will be held at a later date. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake handled the arrangements.
