The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/03/2005
Ida "Lois" Holmes Reynolds, 83, died May 25, 2005 at Webb's Adult Care Home in Snowflake.
She was born Aug. 31, 1921 at her grandparents home in Virginia. Lois attended William and Mary College, and later while working as a hotel waitress, she met her future husband, Bert Reynolds. They were married in Alameda, Calif. and remained married for 40 years. Lois led the typical military life traveling east coast to west coast and raising two children basically by herself. She was a strong, Independent woman who did whatever was necessary to help her family.
Although she was primarily a mother and homemaker, she worked outside of her home in a variety of jobs including Convair factory work and retail sales in everything from Avon to dehydrated food. Lois also served as a past President of the Show Low Emblem Club (Elks Lodge).
Lois was deeply devoted to her family and in 1970, she and Bert moved to Lakeside and later to Show Low so that Lois could be closer to the family she dearly loved.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Dennis) Higginbotham; son Bert (Theresa) Reynolds; grandchildren, Dean, Julie, and Don (Renee) Higginbotham, Josh Reynolds; seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert in 1982. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the White Mountain Hospice Foundation, 1789 W. Commerce Dr., Lakeside, AZ 85929 in memory of Ida Lois Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
