The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/03/2005 Francille B. Hansen, lovingly referred to as "Fran", 75, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Scottsdale. Fran was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Sandy, Utah, the tenth of 10 children of Peter and Thora Pedersen. She was raised working on the family farm in Sandy where growing sugar beets was the main product. She attended elementary and high school in Sandy. She was called to serve a mission in Denmark for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was there that she met Benworth S. Hansen of Lakeside who was also serving a mission in Denmark. After returning from her mission Fran sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for three years, which was a highlight of her life. Then she and Ben began courting and April 19, 1957, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Ben was a school teacher in Scottsdale where they made their home for over 40 years. They together owned and operated a Dairy Queen on North 7th Street in Phoenix for many years. Fran was a great bookkeeper, but her true joy was in her role as a mother. After raising their two children, Ben and Fran were called to serve a mission together, again in Denmark. They loved their missionary service. Fran was also passionate about doing genealogy and family history work. She was a member of the Coronado Ward in Scottsdale. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Fran is survived by her son, B. Samuel and his wife Chandra Hansen of Mesa and five grandchildren, Chanelle, Bryce, Brandt, Brandon, and Brielle. Of all of her siblings only one sister survives; Maxine Slaughter of Phoenix. Fran was preceded in death by an infant son Neils Peter Hansen Jan. 16, 1963, her daughter, Karen Brewer April 11, 1994, and her husband, Benworth S. Hansen Oct. 22, 2001. Funeral Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4 at the Coronado Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2202 N. 74th St., Scottsdale. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hansen's Mortuary at 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, and beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in the Lakeside Cemetery, Lakeside that same day. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
