Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona April 21, 1977 Services were held April 11 for Winniford D. Roper, 86, a resident of Congress for the past 7 years, who died April 7 at the Wickenburg Community Hospital. Born in Big Springs, Texas, he was a retired miner, a member of the VFW and American Legion in Safford, the Elks and a WWI veterans serving in Army Intelligence. He is survived by his wife Anna, a daughter Lucille Rockhill of Bagdad, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
