HAY, Nora DeWald


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, February 23, 2010 Nora DeWald Hay, 90, passed away Feb. 19, 2010 in Lake Havasu City. She was born on Dec. 28, 1919, in Ottawa, Kan., to Wayne and Fannie (Funk) DeWald. Nora moved to Lake Havasu City from Platte City, Mo., 24 years ago. She was a retired beautician and worked at Don’s Auto Body with her son, Don, for seven years. Nora was Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Platte City, Mo., four times. She volunteered for 12 years at the Senior Center, which she was very dedicated to. She drove the Meals on Wheels van for five years until she lost her eyesight; she then worked as a kitchen aid for 10 years at the Senior Center. Nora is survived by her loving family; sons, Don E. Underwood, of Lake Havasu City, Layton E. Underwood Jr., of Val Rico, Fla.; daughter, Linda C. Hay, of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Anne Hanson, of Ottawa, Kan.; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her husband, Jessie Lynn Hay, precedes her in death.
