ACUNIA, Davis Whitehill


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/14/2005 Davis Whitehill Acunia, 70, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Winslow Hospital. He was born in Laveen and attended school in Holbrook at the Seventh Day Adventist School. Following school he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict as a Sniper. After the war he married Macbell Tenney and they were married for 15 years. He then married Carol Jensen Dec. 8, 1978. They lived on the Pima-Maricopa Reservation near Phoenix for eight years before returning to Holbrook in 1982. Davis did many things during his life, including Forest Lawn Cemetery in California, the Holbrook School District, as well as being self-employed. Davis is survived by his wife, Carol Acunia of Holbrook; sons, Alex Acunia of Indian Wells, David Csurilla, Lane Jensen both of Phoenix, Hugh Jensen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alfonso Acunia of Holbrook; daughters, Carrie Acunia of Indian Wells, Debbie Acunia Taine of Hartford, Conn., Amanda Acunia of Minneapolis, Minn.; brothers, Jimmy Acunia of Managers Dam, Raymond Acunia of Phoenix; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10 at the Broken Arrow Chapel in Keams Canyon. Interment will be in the Indian Wells Cemetery.
