HANNON, Paul Dervey


Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona July 14, 1977 Paul Dervey Hannon, born January 1898 in Alabama died in a Reno, Nevada Hospital July 5, 1977. He was a veteran of World War I and came to Arizona in 1920 to recover from an illness he contracted during his service in the armed forces. When he came to Wickenburg in 1920 he went to work for the Brayton Commercial Company and for some years was in charge of the Meat Market there. He met Hattie B. Kellis here and they were married in 1932. Three daughters were born in Wickenburg and each attended Wickenburg Schools from first grade through high school. In 1937 he bought the Fuel and Transfer Co. on North Frontier Street. He and Mrs. Hannon sold this business to Dan Snyder in 1946. They then moved to Fannins Bugas Plant east of town, and he managed that business until they moved to Sierravelle, Calif in 1950. Mr. Hannon was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He was a Charter member and past Master of Hassayampa Lodge No. 37, a Post Patron of Hassayampa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. In 1971 he was presented a fifty year pin from the Masonic Lodge in Sierraville, California. He served on Wickenburg Town Council during World War II, was active in Rotary and Roundup Clubs. He is survived by his wife Hattie B., and three daughters, Mrs. Jane Cooper of Loyalton, Cal., Mrs. Billee Stoner of Sierraville and Mrs. June Helms of Las Vegas, Nevada, ten grandchildren and some bothers in Alabama. Funeral services were Friday July 8, in Sierraville, Cal. Followed by entombment in Sierraville Cemetery.
