GIACONIA, Mary A.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/24/2005 Mary A. Giaconia, 89, died June 19, 2005 at her home in Overgaard. She was born in Rochester, N.Y. where she grew up and attended school. She and her husband, Vincent, were married in 1938. She was a homemaker and beloved mother. In 1948 Mary moved to Phoenix. She was the recipient of the Volunteer of The Year award presented to her by the mayor of Phoenix. Mary is survived by one daughter, Joanne (Bill) McKernan of Overgaard; 3 grandchildren, William (Debbie) McKernan of Flagstaff, Erik (Lorinda) of Overgaard and Justin (Susan) of Overgaard; six great-grandchildren Kayla, Ian, Katherin, Rhannon, Rachel and Shaun; and two step-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Chaz. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Griffin in 1968 and her husband, Vincent in 1981. Services were held at Our Lady of Assumption in Overgaard June 21 with burial in St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
