Ross Dale Cox, 56, died Sunday, June 19, 2005.
He was born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California and grew up in Escondido where he graduated from Orange Glen High School. Ross attended Palomar Junior College where he studied automotive technology and soon after married Roxie Pursley. He became a journeyman plumber and ran his father-in-laws business for several years and also was a reserve officer for the Escondido Police Department. Eventually Ross purchased a 7-11 franchise, which he owned for thirty years. Ross and Roxie had two children Chad and Marcy.
In 1988 Ross married Christine Wood in Lake Tahoe, California. They loved the White Mountains, which they had traveled through while on vacation. Ross fell in love with the area and soon bought a house in Linden. In his spare time Ross enjoyed restoring his Willy's Wagon, taking trips in his motor home, visiting his grandchildren, skiing and boating, especially on the Colorado River. Ross was hard working, adventurous and humorous. He will be dearly missed.
Ross is survived by his wife, Christine; son, Chad (Brenna) Cox of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Marcy (Zach) Swalander of Benson; step-children, Tom Woodburn of Show Low, Stephen Arrance of Escondido, Calif., Jennifer (Kyle) Sussman of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Ryan, Grace, Abigail and Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred C. and Mary Eleanor Cox.
Private family services will be held.
