COFFINGER, Mike

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona December 22, 1977 Mike Coffinger, 43, former Wickenburg resident and active sportsman and athlete here and in college, died last week in Tempe following an automobile accident there. He was graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1952 and from Arizona State University in 1957. He played football both here and at ASU; and made the college team as a “walk-on” not through a scholarship. He was a fullback and defensive linebacker. Following graduation, he became a junior high school teacher in Tempe. His father was the late Howard Coffinger, former funeral director here. Surviving are his mother, Naomi Cochran, Bullhead City; his widow, Marilyn; two sons, Howard and Michael, and a brother, Patrick, Tempe. Funeral services were in Tempe and burial was at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
