MINTER, Edgar Allen


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, February 9, 2010 Edgar Allen Minter passed away Jan. 31, 2010 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 89. He was born on Jan. 17, 1921, in Beggs, Okla., to Edgar and Hazel (Shelton) Minter. Edgar moved to Lake Havasu City 20 years ago from Southern California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1939, just prior to World War II. Edgar proudly served his country for six years and was an instructor pilot. He was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Following his military service, Edgar returned to Southern California and went to work for E and L Association in Long Beach, Calif., as a steamfitter, a position he held for 35 years. Edgar is survived by his brother, Doug Minter, of Carson City, Nev. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia, who passed away in Orange County, Calif., in 1996 and his sister, Frankie, who passed away in Medford, Ore., March 31, 2008. A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Words of comfort and inspiration will be expressed by Pastor Mel Soderberg.
