Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, February 8, 2010 Dorothy “Dot” Deon Whaley, 87 passed away Feb. 3, 2010. She was born in Shamrock, Okla., on Sept. 10, 1922, to William M. and Gertrude B. Walker. She was a 10-year resident of Lake Havasu City. The eldest of 10 brothers and sisters, Dorothy graduated high school in Pixley, Calif., where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Sterling L. Whaley. She loved to spend her time traveling with her husband in their RV, visiting friends and relatives along the way. She was an avid fisherman, reader and bingo player. Dot was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Margie Tifferman and Maxine Belflower; brothers, Noel Walker and Forrest Walker. She leaves behind her sons, Jerry Whaley (Linda), of Lake Havasu City, Jack Whaley (Susan), of Hawthorne, Nev., and John Whaley (Margaret), of Olympia, Wash.; five grandchildren, Tina Canady and Kimberly Richmond, of Hawthorne, Nev., Jackie Whaley, of Newport, Ore., Chris Whaley, of Olympia, Wash., and Melinda Wagner, of Seattle, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Harland Walker, of Burk Burnet, Texas, Marvin Walker, of Lake Havasu City, Floyd Walker, of Moorpark, Calif.; sisters, Beulah Conkle, of Coos Bay, Ore., Coleen Gregory, of Tulare, Calif. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at House on the Riviera and New Hope Hospice for the care and compassion Dorothy received the last few months. A celebration of her life will be held at a date yet to be determined. Arrangements were entrusted to Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
