Joseph Peaches, Sr. 60, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 in Mesa.
He was born in Los Angeles, Calif. He grew up in Cibecue, later moving to Whiteriver and was raised at East Fork Lutheran Mission. Joseph briefly attended school in Stewart, Nevada before returning to Whiteriver where he graduated from Alchesay High School. As a young man he traveled to the Los Angeles area where he pursued occupations in mechanics and welding. Joseph moved back to Whiteriver and spent the last 24 years with Velta Manuel.
Joseph enjoyed spending time at the casino, watching movies, and listening to country music. He was also very talented at playing the guitar. He was always telling jokes and made others laugh. Joseph will be dearly missed.
Joseph is survived by his companion, Velta Manuel; son Joseph Peaches, Jr. of Whiteriver; daughters, Michelle and Tamika of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; four aunts, Rupee Danford, Nannie Quay, Darlene Tessay, Carmelita Childs; uncle, Lavender Peaches; as well as many friends and relatives from Cibecue and Whiteriver.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 10 at the Cottonwood Gym in Cibecue. There will be a two-night wake beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8 in Whiteriver and moving to Cibecue at 4 p.m. Friday. nterment will be in the Open Range Cemetery in Cibecue.
