Jasper Jay Simmons, 17, died July 2, 2005 in Holbrook.
Jasper was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and his family moved to North Carolina when he was young. In 2002 the family relocated to Lakeside, where he attended Blue Ridge Jr. High and high school. In his free time Jasper enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also very talented in sports including football, basketball and track.
He made the varsity football squad as a freshman and was a member of the state championship team in his sophomore year, 2004. Jasper had a wonderful sense of humor, always making people smile. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Jasper is survived by his parents, Wesley and Sharon Simmons of Lakeside; two brothers Robert (Lisa) Simmons of Mesa and Donald (D'Arcy) Simmons of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Courtney Simmons of Scottsdale and Natalie Simmons of Lakeside; grandparents, Lucy Mae Simmons of Glendale and Lois Yazel of Kingman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lester Simmons and Stanley Yazel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at the Pinetop Baptist Church with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
