LARSEN,
Emma Belle
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/19/2005
Emma Belle Larsen died at the Friendship House in Eagar, July 14, 2005 just days after her 93rd birthday.
She was born July 6, 1912 in Aravaipa, a mining town in Southern Arizona. She taught school for most of her life. Among her charges were Hispanic children in the Gilbert/Chandler area where she taught for many years. She became quite fluent in the Spanish language. She was an artist, and her skills passed though many stages as she ventured to try new things. She painted her husband Pete at his favorite fishing hole as he reeled in a keeper, as well as miniatures, pastels and scenery from mountain to desert.
She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She performed several church services over the years, but probably was most proud of her service as a Sunday School teacher and home visiting teacher.
Emma Belle also dabbled in Real Estate for several years after retiring from school teaching. She loved people and loved doing things for others.
She had lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jerry and Charlene McCutcheon in Eagar since 2002. Her fiery spirit continued to amaze everyone, even after a spell in which her heart began to fail and she went to live at Friendship House. Always busy, she painted portraits of the nurses and aids and gave them as gifts.
Her survivors include sons Donald Tenney (Carol Sue) Larsen, Las Vegas, Nev.; Ernest Fielding (Myra) Larsen, Eagar; daughters Charlene (Jerry) McCutcheon, Eagar; and Jean Marie (Rusty) Rolfson, Idaho, 25 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Fielding Larsen in 1979.
