OLD, Violet Mae


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, January 25, 2010 Violet Mae Old passed away Jan. 16, 2010 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 87. Violet was born on Sept. 16, 1922 in Los Angeles to James and Nellie (Luyster) Clark. Violet spent the majority of her life in Long Beach and was recently residing in Yucca Valley, Calif. She moved to Lake Havasu City one month ago. In the 1940s, Violet became involved with the USO during World War II. She was deeply involved in square dancing, a hobby she enjoyed for more than 20 years. As her four children were growing up, she became involved as a Scout leader. During her life, she worked in banking, as a postal carrier and also as an owner of a retail store. Two years ago, Violet was baptized in Yucca Valley into the Jehovah’s Witness faith. Violet is survived by her sons, James R. Old and his wife Debi, of Kelseyville, Calif., and Michael F. Old, of Lake Havasu City; daughters, Margaret E. “Pegi” Stubblefield and her husband John and Jacqueline L. Old, both of Lake Havasu City; as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
