Fred Gonzales, Sr., 77, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Flagstaff.
Mr. Gonzales was born March 29, 1933, in Winslow. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a fourth degree in Knights of Columbus and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Pipe Fitter Union No. 469, Navajo County Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement Association.
Mr. Gonzales is survived by his son, Freddy Jr.; daughter Rosemarie Nagel; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers John (Alice) Flores, Daniel Gonzales and Augustine (Barbara) Flores; and sisters Carmen (Alfonso) Guzman, Rachel (Richard) Smith and Dodie (Dan) Sickler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Ruiz Gonzales; foster parents Josefa Flores and Salome Flores, and Mary and Felipe Flores; sisters Ida Rodriguez and Evelyn Rodriguez; brother Phillip T. Flores Jr.; and son-in-law Alvin Nagel.
Viewing will be Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Greer's Mortuary Chapel. Holy Rosary for will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. with celebrant Father Frank Chacon. Interment will follow at Desert View Cemetery.
