Mr. Leo E. Navarro, age 80, of Claypool, Ariz. passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Copper Mountain Inn Nursing Home in Globe. He was born in Miami, Ariz. on Nov. 7, 1929, the son of Cirilo and Macaria (Encinas) Navarro. Leo was a graduate of Miami High School. While in school, he played baseball and basketball. Some of his hobbies included golfing and fishing.
He worked as a superintendent for several mining companies. He and his family were residents of Peru for 16 years and five years in Mexico. After returning from Mexico he worked for Pinto Valley and ASARCO. He also was a greeter for WalMart. Leo served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Carmen Fimbres, who raised him.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Minga; his daughters, Bonnie Stallings of St. Johns and Joni (John) Sucato of Phoenix; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Jackie Cipolla and Garrett Stallings.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 5 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami, Ariz. Assisting the family is Lamont Mortuary.
