Robert “Eppie” Herrera was born June 24, 1938, in De1 Norte, Colo., to Antonio and Cora Herrera. He passed away Jan. 2, 2010 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 71.
Robert lived most of his life in Northern California. After retirement in 1995, Robert moved to Lake Havasu City with his wife Peggy, where he spent the remainder of his life. Robert worked as a crane operator for Santa Fe Railway in Richmond, Calif., where he was a member of Teamsters Local 315 and Eagles 4299 for many years. He loved the water and was an avid fisherman and boater. He spent many years enjoying vacations with his family and friends at Lake Berryessa in Napa County, Calif. Robert loved to go dancing with his wife Peggy, and especially loved swing dancing.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Peggy; sons, Ray Herrera and Delmer Herrera; daughters, Kim Herrera Miles and Lori Herrera Martz; step-sons, Steve Nilsson, Jon Nilsson, and Shane Nilsson; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony Herrera and Art Herrera; sisters, Viola Trujillo, Helen Dulac, Alice Waid and Martha Pena; plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charlie Herrera and Delmer Herrera.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tulocay, 411 Coombsville Road, Napa, Calif.
