Congress Notes
Congress area did not hesitate to express grief for the loss of a much beloved Senior Citizen and long time resident of Congress, when the Catholic Church was filled to overflowing on Tuesday morning, Feb. 10 to mourn the passing of Clarence Millspaugh.
Mr. Milspaugh was everybody’s friend and Mrs. Millspaugh, Verine to most of us, shares the love and respect of the Community. Many family members lived too far away to be present for the ceremonies, including his 97 year old father, John Milspaugh, sister, Josephine Lawrence and brother John Milspaugh, all living Spokane, Washington. A nephew Gary Bullington of Richfield, N. Dakota, unaware of the tragedy called Verine on Monday evening to tell the Mispaughs that he was on his way to pay them a visit, and thus learned of the death of his Uncle. He is continuing his trip to spend a little time with his Aunt. A sister, Dolly Mae McGrath, flew in from Mountain Home, Idaho, as did a sister-in-law, Mary Moore from Martin, So. Dakota, Mrs. Moore was driven 165 miles to an airport in a 4 wheel drive vehicle because of a severe blizzard. These two ladies are staying with Mrs. Milspaugjh until she feels sufficiently recovered from her loss and shock to remain alone in her home. George Milspaugh and son Guy, residents of Lake Side, Cal., nephew of Clarence as well as Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Robinson, niece and nephew from Parker Dam, Cal., and Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Aman with children Scott, Sheryl, daughter from Prescott, were among those gathering at the Milspaugh home after the burial to have lunch and console the bereaved widow.
Burial was in the Peeples Valley Cemetery with the American Legion, Bill Taylor Post No. 79 chaplain giving the eulogy and a firing squad and bugler paying last respects to one of their lost comrades.
Local pall bearers were Jim Davis, Tom McKenna, Joe Morris, Don Abrams, Bill Stephens and Eugene Rogers, all fellow-volunteer firemen. Mr. Milspaugh will be deeply missed by his many friends and bereaved relatives throughout many states.
