The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/05/2005 Joshua David Tortice, 16, died Sunday, July 31, 2005. He was born in Whiteriver and raised in McNary. He always loved fishing, hunting, and golfing. Joshua started school in McNary and for the past three years he has attended school in Blue Ridge. Joshua is survived by his father, Alexander Tortice; mother, Joann Tortice; 4 brothers, Delbert Tortice "Little Boy" of Whiteriver, Darrell J. Tortice of California and Edison G. Tortice of McNary; six sisters, Crystal G. Tortice of Florida, Andrea R. Kinney of Lakeside, Lydia P. Tortice of McNary, Monica V. Tortice of Florida, Margie Tortice of Florida and Alexis D. Tortice of McNary; grandfather, Danny Josay of Whiteriver; grandma, Hilda White of Cibecue; aunt, Abigail Wilson; four uncles, two nephews and 6 nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Adam A. Tortice and grandmothers, Irene L. Tortice and Bessie Zahgotah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 6 at the McNary Gym. A two-night wake that began Thursday, Aug. 4 at the family home in McNary. Interment will be in the McNary Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
