MOON, Billy Eugene


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/05/2005 Billy Eugene Moon, 84, of Show Low, died July 27, 2005 at RTA Hospice. He was born Aug. 26, 1920 in Bethany, Illinois to Fred George Moon and Ella Nay Manship. He was raised and went to school in Bethany, Ill. and graduated in 1939. He married Mary Munch in Missouri in 1940. He served in the US Army and also in WWII, serving in the European theater. He lived in Illinois until coming to Arizona 39 years ago. He was a self-employed general contractor until retiring in 1987. He came to Show Low in 1993. He enjoyed wood working and square dancing. He is survived by his wife Mary Moon; daughter Paula Sue (Steven) Spurgeon of Show Low; two sons Larry (Connie) Moon of Show Low and Jerry (Marylin) McDevitt of Illinois; three sisters Hope Snyder, Ella Mae Brown and Anamary Carkin, all of Illinois. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements were handled by Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
