William M. Frkovich Jr.
William Frkovich died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Kingman. He was born March 18, 1949, in Gallup, N.M.
He attended Gallup High School and Northern Arizona University, graduating with a BA in Music History and Literature. He went on to attend Arizona State University where he received a masters and doctorate in Music Theory and Secondary Music Education.
He was an Administrative Assistant at Arizona State University and served as director of curriculum and staff development for the North Central Arkansas Education Service Center. He also taught Music Education at Cash Junior High and Chandler High School in Arizona.
He was a 32nd degree master Mason and a member of Lodge 22 in Kingman and served as lodge president and organist. He was an accomplished musician and provided live services to many churches and organizations. Frkovich was a true friend to all his acquaintances.
His hobbies included amateur radio, cooking, philosophy, listening to music, and he very much enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include his aunt, Anne E. Mataya of Gallup; cousins, Patrick Mataya of Gallup, Mike Mataya of Thoreau, N.M. and Philip Polich of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; and nephews, Justin Smith and Jody Smith of Simi Valley, Calif.
Frkovich was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Frkovich Sr. and Jewel Frkovich; and sister, Karen L. Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at the Kingman Masonic Lodge on Fourth Street in downtown Kingman. The public is invited to attend.
