Robert Anthony Frushon (Fruciante) was born in Pittston, Pa., on May 18, 1931, to Dominic and Johanna Frushon. He entered Heaven on June 29, 2007. Bob was a mighty warrior who fought the good fight against cancer.
Bob joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950 serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He rose through the enlisted ranks to become a mustang officer, but accepted retirement in 1985 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Bob served as team captain for the Marine Corps Pistol and Rifle Team for Approximately 15 years achieving distinguished expert marksmanship status in the Distinguished Shooters Association.
Bob retired as an aero space engineer in the B-l Simulator at Rockwell International in 1990. He and his wife, Barbara, moved to Prescott Valley in 1998 and enjoyed travels in their motor home in their leisure time. He was a two-term president of the Prescott Sportsmen's Club and served as director and coach of the Junior Marksmanship Program. Bob's students have gone on to compete in the national competition at Camp Perry, Ohio, where Bob also competed over the years.
He was an active member of his beloved Marine Corps League Copperstate Detachment No. 906 of Prescott, Ariz. It was Bob's honor to be a member and Poundkeeper of the Devil Dogs Inc., a special contingent of the Marine Corps. Bob was also a member and treasurer of the Benevolent and Protective order of the Elks No. 330 of Prescott.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Barbara; daughter Linda of Moreno Valley, Calif.; sister Betty Jane Marsh of Avoca, Pa.; sister Elaine Harrison of Running Springs, Calif.; and stepdaughter Suzye Lawson of Costa Rica.
A visitation in honor of Bob will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2007, with a Rosary held at 6 p.m. at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Val ley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Saint Germaine Catholic Church, 7997 E. Dada Drive, in Prescott Valley. A luncheon will be held following the Mass in Reiser Hall at the church.
Burial with full military honors will take place at Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery in Dewey following the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara is asking that donations be made to the Junior Marksmanship Program of the Prescott Sportsmen's Club, P.O. Box 1087, Prescott Ariz., 86302, Attn: Secretary.
