Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Sunday, June 13, 2010 William C. Gallemore of Lostine, Ore., formerly of Lake Havasu City, died June 3 at the age of 93. He was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Konawa, Okla. He graduated valedictorian from a Big Spring, Texas, high school in 1936. He received his B.A. degree in 1940 from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He married Doris A. Holliday in Columbia, S.C., on Jan. 17, 1943. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. He piloted B-25 aircraft and flew 61 combat missions in the CBI (China, Burma, India) Theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He retired from the United States Air Force Reserve as Colonel in 1977. His principal assignment was liaison officer for the United States Air Force Academy. Bill was a Special Agent with the FBI from 1946-1948 with field assignments in Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. From 1949 until his retirement in 1969, he was a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations (OSI), United States Air Force, with assignment in Denver. He served as chief of General Investigations, District Office 14. After retirement in 1969, Bill and Doris moved to Lake Havasu City where they resided for 35 years. Bill was manager of the London Bridge Golf Club. Bill and Doris moved to Lostine, Ore., in Sept. 2006 to live with their daughter. Bill is survived by his wife, Doris, of 67 years; daughter, Gay Behnke, Lostine, Ore.; son, Scott Gallemore, Kauai, Hawaii; and four grandchildren.
