BARTHOLOMEW,
Martin (Marty) Joseph
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/19/2005
Martin "Marty" Joseph Bartholomew, 44, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 9, 2005 at his home in St. Johns.
He was born Oct. 7, 1960 in Burbank, Calif. to William Joseph and Simone (Pearce) Bartholomew. He graduated from Palmdale High School in 1978, and then from the University of California in San Luis Obispo with a degree in electrical engineering and later got his teaching credential for secondary math. He taught high school for 15 years, spending the last 10 years at St. Johns High School. Marty was better known as "Bart" to the students and spent much of his time tutoring and helping students. He was concerned about their success and if the student was willing, Marty would be there to help.
Marty was very active in his community and in his church, First Assembly of God. He served one term on the St. Johns city council and served on his church board, as well as directed the men's bible study. Marty's family will always remember him for his loving, caring affections he showed them. He was very positive natured. He loved to go hiking with kids, ride motorcycles and praise the Lord. His priorities were God, family and school. Marty spent the last year fighting cancer. God relieved him of his suffering once and for all by taking him home.
Marty is survived by his wife of 15 years Tambra Bartholomew; his four children Aricka, Cambrea, Joseph and Nolanni; Marty's parents Bill and Simone Bartholomew of Victorville, Calif.; his three sisters and one brother, Mary Ann Mariani, Catherine Shane, Nancy Pape of San Diego, Calif. and Ron Bartholomew of Victorville, Calif.
A memorial service was held Friday, Aug. 12 at the Letty A. Patterson Auditorium in St. Johns. He will be greatly missed by all.
Arrangements were handled by Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
