The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/02/2005 Junior Ray Garrett Junior Ray Garrett, 70, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. He was born and raised in Quinton, Oklahoma. Following school he worked as a Sharecropper. Junior met and married Glenda Joy Dowling, they moved to Arizona in 1957 and he went to work as a shovel operator for Phelps Dodge, where he worked for 23 years retiring in 1991. Following retirement, they made their home in Safford. In 2003 he moved to Pinetop. Junior is survived by three sons, Roger Shook of Brownsville, Texas, David J. Garrett of Pinetop, Steven P. Garrett of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Robin Akre of Safford, and Kathy Templeton of Plainsview, Texas; three brothers, Kenneth Garrett of McAllister, Okla., Oscar Garrett and Gene Garrett both of California; three sisters, Mary Lantham of Lexington, Ky., Lou Vick of McAllister, Okla. and Alma Marlin of Fort Worth, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
