MORGAN, Clyde Aaron


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Wednesday, December 2, 2009 Clyde Aaron Morgan, 97, a long-time resident of Lake Havasu City, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009. He was born on Feb. 25, 1912, in Mena, Ark., to Richard and Mattie (Barrett) Morgan. Following high school graduation, Clyde went into the heavy equipment field as a mechanic. In 1994, while working for Morris-Knudson, Clyde aided in the war effort as a maintenance foreman, building runways in the Aleutian Islands, until 1946. After returning to the states, Clyde remained working in the heavy equipment field and most recently worked for DC Spear Construction Co. Clyde and his wife Susie moved to Arizona from Battiest, Okla., in 1940, and relocated to Lake Havasu City in 1964. They became charter and active members of the First Southern Baptist Church in 1965. Following his retirement, Clyde and Susie enjoyed traveling to Whitehorse Lake and Mormon Lake in their RV and would ride all day long on their quads with their dog, Chip. Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Susie; sons, Don Morgan, of Tucson, and Dan Morgan, of Oklahoma; daughter, Lois Ruiz, of Lake Havasu City; sister, Oma Splawn; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Orval Morgan; sisters, Etta McKeaver, Ima Lalena and Rose Morgan. Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the First Southern Baptist Church Friday at 10 a.m. Words of comfort and inspiration will be offered by Dr. Rev. Bob Greene. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
