Katherine Kelly Minard, 81, passed away in her home surrounded by her family Nov. 16, 2009. She was born to Charles and Verna (Wilkins) Kelly on March 3, 1928, in Rutland, Vt. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1946 and worked at the Rutland Hospital until she married her best friend, Edward C. Minard Sr., on June 24, 1950, at Saint Patrick's Church in Wallingford, Vt. and together raised seven children. She was a homemaker for many years and worked in the family business, FMF, until moving to Long Beach, Calif., in 1969 where she worked as a sales person for BAP Geon and Impac. She moved to Lake Havasu City in March 2007 due to health reasons. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved having family around, the holidays, sewing, crafts, reading, gambling, the ocean, and whale watching.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Charles J. Kelly Jr. She leaves behind her children; Michelle Minard, Deborah Minard, Kathy (Minard) Martin and husband Darrell, Edward C. Minard Jr and wife Rose, Pam Minard, Dena (Minard) Mills and husband Tim, Kevin Minard; grandchildren, Johnny D. Morgan II, Tara D. Minard, Shawna (Minard) Weir and husband Curtis, Aperyl L (Morgan) Lockwood, Julie M. (Morgan) Leaverton and husband Jeff, Alex M. Machipiness, Jason T. L. Morgan, Kimberley (Minard) Watson and husband Paul, Jennifer L. Morgan, Ryan Pickens, Edward C. Minard III, Francelia Segura, Lyndsey Minard, Jana Martin, Katherine K. Minard, Vinnie J. Minard, Lea M. Martin, Anna K. Mills, Brandon T. Mills; great grandchildren, Kellie Black, Ashley Lockwood, Kailye Minard, Gaige Martinez, Larissa Imbriani, Miquela Black, Dylan Imbriani, Jayden Morgan, Marin Morgan, Sean Watson, Zoey Silva , Paige Silva; sister-in-law and best friend, Joan Abitell, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a service on Dec. 7 aboard the Challenger leaving out of Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society.
