CARRELL, Robert

Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Wednesday, November 1, 2006 Robert Carrell, 76, of Franklin passed away at home Oct. 24 surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Bisbee on July 3, 1930, to Robert David Carrell and Audra May Thomas. He grew up in Franklin and graduated from Duncan High School in 1948. Robert went to work for Phelps Dodge on July 3, 1948, got married to Bernice McNair on Oct. 29, 1949, and joined the Marines in 1952. On Dec. 11, 1953, Jana (Richard) Reed was born in Barstow, Calif.; and on Oct. 28, 1956, Danny (Sherry) Carrell was born. Robert worked for Phelps Dodge for 32 years as a pipe-fitter plumber and retired in 1981. On Dec. 10, 1977, Robert married Carol Wilkerson, and through the years they enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and dancing. He is also survived by Keith (Leah) Wilkerson, Byron (Lee Anne) Wilkerson and Daphene (Robert) Wilkes. Services for Robert were held Friday, Oct. 27, with a viewing from 12 to 2 p.m. at Morris Safford Funeral Home Chapel, followed with a service. Services concluded at Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Morris Safford Funeral Home.
