POWER, Kay


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/09/2005 Kay Power, 56, died Sept. 3, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kay was born and raised in Mesa. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1967. She was involved in school activities and was on the Pom and Cheer team in high school and also at Mesa Community College. Kay became a Dental Assistant and worked for a dentist in Mesa and then after moving to Show Low in 1979 she worked for Dr. Trent Adams for several years. She met Lyle Power in 1972 and in 1973 they were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple. After moving to Show Low she also became a coach for the Pom and Cheer Team at Show Low High School. Kay enjoyed arts and crafts, especially making arrangements with dried flowers. She also enjoyed raising different kinds of fish in her home aquariums. Her greatest love was her family and in the last few years she really enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Young Women's program. For the past three years she has enjoyed being the Bishop's wife. She was sensitive to peoples' needs and will be greatly missed. Kay is survived by her husband, Bishop A. Lyle Power, III of Show Low; two sons, Arthur L. (Amberlyn) Power, IV of Heber and Jacob Allen (Lara) Power of Phoenix; one daughter, Brandice Kay Dowell (Nathan) of Mesa; four sisters, Carla (Norland) Jacobs of Sarasota, Fla., Julie (David) Crick of Omaha, Neb., Judy (Duane) Sebring of Phoenix and Janet (Kevin) Stewart of Richfield, Utah; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Tanner. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 7,at the Show Low Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a viewing one hour prior. Burial will be in the Adair Cemetery in Show Low.
