The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/13/2005 Norma Lee O'Donnell-Self, 70, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 in Gilbert after a brief fight with cancer. She was born March 4, 1935 in Grants, New Mexico. She lived and raised her family in the White Mountains. After graduating from McNary High School she attended nursing college at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. She graduated nursing school in 1956. Norma worked as a registered nurse for 49 years, and most recently at the Whiteriver Indian Hospital. She is survived by children Glenn Self, Cissy Sylvia Bruening, Charlotte Bond and Steven Self. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two brothers, Willard and Alvus O'Donnell. Services will be held at the Living Water Baptist Church in Lakeside Friday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. Family and friends may gather following services at noon in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that Norma's services as a nurse to help others in need be honored in the form of donations to the Red Cross of Arizona to benefit the victims of Katrina. Arrangements have been entrusted to Messinger Mortuary in Phoenix.
