BELT, Roscoe Hugh (Ross)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/13/2005 Roscoe Hugh " Ross" Belt, 90, died Sept. 8, 2005 in Snowflake. Mr. Belt was born and raised in Phoenix where he attended school. Following school he went to work for the Hurley Meat Packing Company in Phoenix. He then went to work as an adjuster for the Ford Motor Company. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during WWII. During his military service he met and married Caroline Logan in Fall River, Massachusetts. Following his military service they returned to Phoenix. They spent summers in Pinetop for many years then moved here permanently in 1954. Ross owned the Double B Lodge and The Community Insurance Agency. In the early 70s Ross sold his businesses, retired and spent a lot of time traveling. He was a charter member of the Pinetop Lions Club and was on the Board of Directors at Navopache Electric Co-op. Mr. Belt is survived by a niece, Barbara A. Moody of Pinetop and a nephew Chuck Peabody of Phoenix and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife. Private services will be held.
