POLING, Doreen

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Doreen Poling was born Aug. 12, 1932 and died June 8, 2010. Doreen Poling was born in Oregon and lived a quite intriguing life. She was admitted to the Hospice of Arizona in, Sun City, Ariz., after suffering from a surgery on her hip as a result of falling down. She was unable to recover. For those who know her they know she was clever, witty, charming, and sincere and didn’t miss a beat. She would bring a smile to our faces even on a cloudy day. She emitted some kind exceptional energy showing us why we should appreciate those who make time to help others. In my life she truly was an angel that filled my heart and life with admiration and ambition to conquer almost anything comes in my way. She was a hard-working, good-natured, creative woman who inspired us to always do better for our lives and never give up. She had several jobs, one of which was operating the printing press for the very first newspaper in Quartzsite, Ariz. Her husband at that time was the editor in chief. When moving to Wickenburg in 1982, they purchased property on Rincon Road and she became quite the horticulturist. She is the author of the book, “Baby Jesus and 101 Elephants,” which is known to make hearts “overflow with love” and is truly a page-turning story. Working with her the last 10 years, we became best friends and she will be severely missed. Doreen had only one surviving daughter, Sharon Morris of Quartzsite, Ariz.
