David Koury, 57, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 in Show Low.
He was born in Snowflake in 1948; his family lived in Holbrook at that time. After he completed the fifth grade the family moved to Page where David completed elementary school and graduated from high school in 1967. He moved back to Holbrook in 1969 and married Doyletta Nester. They started their family and in 1975 the moved to Show Low where he managed Sho Lo Bowl for the family organization. For the past 15 years David also worked with his sons in their Elk and other Wildlife Guiding Services.
David has for many years been active in the Show Low wrestling program and has also supported youth programs in the area. David's main love was his family. He loved being with his children and grandchildren and always made time for them to enjoy the mountains, hunting, fishing and para-planing. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife whenever they could. He was a member of The Church of Christ with his family.
David is survived by his wife, Doyletta Koury; sons, Shane (Sandra) Koury of Show Low, Michael (Carolyn) Koury of Silver City, N.M.; four grandchildren, Steffen and Skyler Koury of Show Low and Xavier and Rio Koury of Silver City, N.M.; his mother, Eula Koury of Page; two sisters, Sharon (Richard) Buck of Page, and Lynda (Chic) Lowell of Page.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Koury.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church.
