Fred Thomas Palmer, 50, died Sept. 30, 2005 in Scottsdale.
A native of Arizona, he was raised in Taylor, the youngest of six children. Fred graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1972. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Sydney, Australia from Jan. 1974 to Dec. 1975. He married Rebecca Harvey in 1977 and then graduated from Brigham Young University in Aug. of 1978 with a B.S. in Business.
He began his career with Electronic Data Systems in 1978 and was employed with them until 2001. During his years with EDS, he and his family lived in Olympia, Wa., Montgomery, Ala., Dallas, Texas, and Scottsdale. He worked for United Health Group in Phoenix from 2003 until the time of his death. As a manager, he excelled in his abilities to lead and organize others and found much success and satisfaction in his efforts.
He was a member of the Greenway Ward, Paradise Valley Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served on various community volunteer committees and loved being involved in the political process, participating in many election campaigns. His favorite pastime included being the best household repairman a wife could ever want and watching his children as they participated in sports, music and other activities. He had a passion for life and for doing his beat at whatever he could.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca; daughter Nicole Palmer Hale of Mapleton, Utah), son Jeffrey Scott Palmer of Provo, Utah; son Ryan Thomas Palmer (serving a mission in Bolivia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and one grandson, Dylan Cole Hale. His brothers are Arvin Palmer of Taylor, and Steven Palmer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sybil Palmer Corry of Cedar City, Utah, and Phyllis Palmer Peterson of Lindon, Utah.
In addition to his parents, Roy and Lucille Palmer, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Arthur Palmer, and sister Connie Palmer Cook.
Visitation will be held at Hansen's Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, in Scottsdale Friday Oct. 7 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Paradise Valley stake center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3601 E. Shea Blvd. Saturday at 10 a.m.
The internment will be at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.
