Funeral services for Travis Alen Sims, 20, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at EWC Fine Arts Auditorium, Torrington, Wyo., with Pastor Jason Gantz officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Travis died at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colo., on June 14, 2010, after a four-year battle with leukemia. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Jason’s Friends. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the casket will be closed at the service.

Travis was born April 23, 1990, in Torrington, Wyo., the son of Mark and Nyana (Andrew) Sims. He grew up and received his early education in Lake Havasu City. The family moved back to Torrington when he was in the eighth grade.
He graduated from Torrington High School. Prior to his illness, in high school he was involved in football, basketball and track. He worked after school for Gear Up at Eastern Wyoming College and helped with the youth group at Bethel Baptist Church. He was student manager and helped out with the tennis team at school. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Travis is survived by his parents, Mark and Nyana Sims and a sister, Amber Sims, all of Torrington, Wyo.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Judy Sims, of Lingle, Wyo.; maternal grandmother, Susan Foltz, of Torrington; maternal great-grandmother, Jean Martindale, of Morrill, Neb.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather.
