Harvey Martin Sloan, 63, died at his home in Springerville, Oct. 8, 2005.
He was a lifelong resident of Arizona. He was born in Morenci Sept. 2, 1942 to Harvey and Evelyn Sloan. Harvey served in the United Stated Army from Aug. 1961 till Aug. 1963. He then worked for the United States Forest Service until his retirement in Dec. 1997. Harvey loved the Lord, his family and his country. He enjoyed cowboying, camping, hunting and fishing in the White Mountains.
His survivors include his wife Mary Ellen Sloan, Springerville; son Dale Sloan, Springerville; daughters Lisa Osborne, Eagar; and Ellen Sloan (granddaughter, whom they adopted and raised) Springerville; brothers Merl Gatlin, Las Cruces, N.M., Richard Gatlin, Boulder City, Nev., George Sloan, Thatcher; sister Pauline Haynes, Kennewick, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, Springerville. Friends may offer condolences from 6-8 p.m. at Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary, Eagar, Friday, Oct. 14. Please make contributions in Harvey's name to his immediate family or to RTA Hospice, 1789 W.
