The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/21/2005 Betty Jean DeWitt Reed, 67, died Oct. 15, 2005, in Amarillo, Texas. Reed was born in Woodruff and attended high school in Holbrook. She married Tom Reed June 12, 1961 in Reno, Nevada. He died in 1979. She has been a resident of Amarillo since 1962. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to bowl, garden, quilt and was a diehard Amarillo Sandie fan. More than anything else, Betty loved being mom and grandma. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Priest and her husband Jimmy of Amarillo and Robin Reed also of Amarillo; one son, Ronald Reed and his wife, Lisa of Show Low, her stepson, Jack Reed and his wife, Melissa of Phoenix, three brothers, Merwin DeWitt of Winslow, Keith DeWitt of Holbrook, and Neil DeWitt of Safford; two sisters, Raenell Hager and Gayle Richards both of Holbrook; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Donald Reed in 1988. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Snowflake. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
