The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/21/2005 Betty Jo Hunt, 83, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005 at her home in Joseph City. She was born in Glenbar, to James Alma and Reliah McBride Larson. She spent some of her early years in Phoenix and Mesa. Her family then moved to Pima where she attended school graduating from Pima High School in 1940. She then attended Eastern Arizona College and was a writer for the school paper. While writing for the paper she interviewed Bud Hunt for the papers "New Man On Campus" section, they married Jan. 10, 1942. Bud and Betty made their home at Homestead Dairy near Joseph City where she remained her entire life. She enjoyed singing, directing music, and wrote in her journal her entire life. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she loved being a visiting teacher. Betty also loved to travel. She worked as a faithful library assistant for the Holbrook Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was also a longtime member of Northern Arizona Cowbells. Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis (Linda) Hunt of Joseph City, Terry Hunt of Las Vegas, Nev., Boyce (Becky) Hunt of Joseph City and Barry (Annette) Hunt of Snowflake; daughters, Jann (Ray) Robles of Tucson, June Lee of Tucson, and Rhonda (Paul) Del Bene of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kent Larson of Safford, Clay Larson of Pima, Gary Larson of Mesa, Richard Larson of Chehalis, Wash., Larry Larson of Safford, Lynn Larson of Pima; sisters, Letha Burrell of San Diego, Calif. and Lynda Allen of Mesa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Hunt in 2002 and her daughter, Claudia in 1943. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Joseph City Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be held from 6-8- p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Family Plot in Joseph City.
