George F. Behers, 87, passed away October 21, 2005 at Navapache Regional Medical Center.
He was born and raised on a farm in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He attended school there and graduated from high school in 1937. George came to Arizona in 1939 with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later returned to Pennsylvania and worked on the railroad. He was enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served with the Merrill's Marauders.
After returning home George went to work for the Warner Company in Limestone Mining. He married Pauline McMurtrie in 1942. In 1956 George moved his family to Tucson there he worked for Russell Electric Company and later worked with Henry Electric until he retired in 1981. George went back to work until he was 75, and then retired from Payless Cashway.
He could tell you anything you needed to know about Electrical Needs.In 1999 they moved to Show Low. George loved fishing and hunting. The area was a reminder of Pennsylvania for him. He attended the First Baptist Church. George will be missed by his family and friends. He was the best dad in the world.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Catherine Behers of Show Low; two sons, Fred (Janice) Behers of Paradise Valley and Larry (Caroline) Behers of Tucson; one daughter, Rosalie (Ernest) Lear of Tucson; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low with visitation one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Pennsylvania.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
